Funding Organization: Anton Jurgens Fonds
Funding focus: Improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in West Africa. Social development, specifically supporting initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable people sustainably. It funds innovative projects, including those in West Africa, aimed at creating income opportunities for rural families. Projects that can demonstrate strong governance, relevant skills and knowledge, and good relationships with local authorities. Initiatives can contribute to these aims in various ways. For example, they may work towards localising supply chains, leading to a direct value addition to agricultural produce and to more employment opportunities. This can result in increased sales and better prices for farmers. Another approach is to create entirely new distribution channels. We partner with organisations that improve farmers’ livelihoods in West Africa. Our focus is on initiatives that aim to: Support farmers in the long-term coordination of their activities by helping them better org. Help farmers sell their produce by increasing productivity and facilitating access to markets. Secure better prices for produce and help achieve higher sales levels for farmers by improving the value chain
Eligibility Criteria: NGOs and organizations that are willing to communicate and collaborate effectively with other partners involved.
Grant Limit: Average grant is €50,000.
Deadline: Open. (Ongoing )

I am pleased to provide this referral in strong support of Dindann Rural Women Farmers’ Cooperative, an outstanding community-based organization dedicated to promoting sustainable agroforestry, women’s economic empowerment, and climate-resilient livelihoods in Northern Ghana.
Over the past years, Dindann has demonstrated exceptional commitment to transforming rural farming systems through the integration of trees, shrubs, and crops that restore soil fertility, reduce erosion, and enhance food and income security for smallholder women farmers. The cooperative’s approach effectively links agriculture, environment, and enterprise development, making it a model for rural resilience and sustainable land management.
The organization’s leadership and members – mainly women and youth – have shown strong capacity in:
• Implementing agroforestry innovations such as intercropping, soil enrichment with organic matter, and sustainable grass charcoal/biochar production;
• Facilitating value addition for local products like shea, baobab, and honey to diversify income streams;
• Strengthening women’s roles in agribusiness leadership and decision-making; and
• Promoting climate change adaptation and restoration practices across degraded landscapes.
Dindann operates transparently, with well-organized farmer groups, clear accountability structures, and active collaboration with research institutions and development partners. The cooperative’s inclusive model ensures that women and youth benefit equitably from training, production, and market opportunities.
I have every confidence in Dindann Rural Women Farmers Cooperative’s ability to manage donor resources responsibly and deliver measurable impacts for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and community resilience. I therefore highly recommend Dindann for partnership or grant support under any agriculture, agroforestry, or women’s empowerment program.

Outcomes of simple and innovative initiatives in rice value chain and crop diversification in West Africa speak for themselves’, what we need to add is sustainability and scale-up strategies. When supported with solar-powered systems and incresded youth involvement, the future will be brighter than today
